We are the parish school for two diverse parishes in New Castle County. Geographically, miles separate them, but when it comes to the education and well being of our students, they are strong advocates for our school and work together supporting and enriching our children. We work closely with our parents and maintain excellent communication with them. Our principal publishes a monthly newsletter that includes a calendar and announces upcoming events. Our Home and School Association also publishes a newsletter that encourages parent involvement and provides news about the events in each classroom.
We believe that we are a community of learners and our families are a vital part of the education of our children. We encourage family involvement with our school liturgies and special programs. Parents serve as advisors and mentors, and in committees to explore ways to improve our school.
Because our faculty has been in the school on an average of 11 years we have established close ties with families, and there is a caring, close relationship with them. Teachers maintain contact with their former students and enjoy watching them grow. We focus on our children as individuals, as well as, members of our school community.
Children with learning challenges are monitored by our teachers, counselor and administration to ensure that their needs are being met. Necessary accommodations are made to increase learning and a positive self-image.
We believe that our children must be prepared to live in an ever-changing world. They are members of a worldwide community, and we stress service to this diverse community. We ask children to work to improve the school environment by following our environmental practices. We encourage their support of the poor and those less fortunate through prayer, monthly outreach programs, and developmentally appropriate activities.
Our students are presented with a variety of teaching methods that reach children with different learning styles while maintaining an adherence to the state and diocesan curriculums. We encourage our students to be creative and to stretch their minds through a variety of projects, field trips and extra curricular activities.
Our students participate in a variety of activities during school and after the school day has ended. We encourage participation at developmentally appropriate levels.

To foster our belief that we are a community many opportunities are provided for children to work together across grade levels. Students act as readers and altar servers at our liturgies. Younger students are paired with older ones as "Mass Buddies". These students attend liturgies together and meet several other times a year to share holidays and activities. Older students perform plays, share reports and read with younger students. They help younger children to participate in our Walkathon and Spirit Day. Middle School students deliver milk to the classrooms on a daily basis. Older students are thus given opportunities to understand the importance of being good role models and how their service helps their community. Our entire school participates in our Field Day every spring.
Each year all grades participate in a school wide academic project. The projects vary based on curriculum and current events. We have decorated our halls to resemble the ocean, the African savanna and a tropical rainforest. We have shared important events of the past Millennium with a school wide timeline and costumes to enhance understanding of History. We chose our favorite literary characters, read books together and dressed in costumes to celebrate literature. During National Geography Week each homeroom participated in a game to guess the State of the Day based on clues read during morning announcements.
